BRYANT PARK — The MTA will charge pedestrians to enter Bryant Park this holiday season. Tourists will be charged $20, while residents must pay $15. Born and raised New Yorkers can present a birth certificate to enter at a discounted rate of whatever a non-gentrified chopped cheese goes for these days.

The decision came about quickly as social media flooded with videos showing a Winter Village packed more tightly than the L out of Manhattan on a Friday afternoon. It’s still unclear why so many people would be willing to pay $12 for a hot chocolate when you can get the same product at the vendor’s usual location for half the price.

Officials hope to capitalize on the incoming holiday season, just in time for a big fat Christmas bonus.
