CITY HALL — Sources report former Republican Congressman George Santos is eyeing a mayoral run in 2024.
“It seems like the whole point of the job is to be the source of drama,” Santos reportedly said in a meeting of his remaining staff members. “I think I know a thing or two about drama, or my name isn’t Scandal-os.”
Editorial note: Mr. Santos’s name is, in fact, not Scandal-os.
Adams has recently come under fire for a variety of issues plaguing his administration and plunging approval rate. Gallup polls indicate his complete lack of follow through on many campaign promises and “almost zero rizz.”
When asked for comment, Mayor Eric Adams’s team only sent back a text that read, “lol. no comment. lmao.”
Political analysts believe the road will be rockier than the Ben & Jerry’s flavor, particularly due to Santos’s label as a Republican and given the city’s long streak of voting blue. However, current staffers say Santos has started spinning a campaign like it was just another one of his lies.
One staffer, who wished to remain anonymous for obvious reasons, said the former congressman believes “if a Republican like Adams can become mayor of [expletive] New York,” Santos can too.
When someone corrected him and said that Adams ran as a Democrat, Santos laughed. “Yeah, I can’t believe he got away with that.”
