MIDTOWN — Following the success of Rockefeller Center’s latest attraction, “The Beam,” which allows visitors to recreate the famous 1932 photograph of 11 ironworkers eating lunch on a dangling steel beam, Top of the Rock is expanding! People will get a chance to experience the grueling and dangerous work conditions of those ironworkers from the 1930s.

At the attraction tentatively named “The Trade,” tourists will participate in the backbreaking manual labor of building a skyscraper as an underpaid worker with zero safety equipment.

To add to the excitement, the attraction will pick 5 random riders to die throughout the day in honor of the five who perished in the construction of the Empire State Building.

The attraction will be built by Amazon’s new theme park division, Warehouse. Executives say if the spin-off ride is successful, they hope to launch an escape room inspired by the 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire.
