FINANCIAL DISTRICT — Trains will be under constant monitoring and observation after three back-to-back derailments in a single month. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) expressed concern about the mental health of the cars and pointed to the high-stress environment of transporting 3.2 million people every day as a possible cause.
In a press conference, the MTA announced plans to put their best engineers, the rapid transit system’s equivalent of a therapist, on the case around the clock until something changes.
“We’re considering all ideas, including an option to build special padded tracks,” said Natalia Arnold, the prime minister of New York City Transportation. “Mental health matters.”
