MIDTOWN EAST — Since CEO Horace Johnson announced a full return-to-office policy for the company, DataMinr workers have a weekly ritual of gathering in the break room to commiserate.

“Today, it took me an hour and a half to get into the office. It’s worse than before the pandemic,” said Isabelle Kim, a product designer. “They should compensate us for the commuting time!”

“I signed my offer because I was told this would be a hybrid role so I could spend time with my kids,” huffed Chester Cross, a senior engineer. “Someone should do something.”

Others agreed, nodding their heads.

“But not me though,” added Cross. “I don’t have the bandwidth.”

Again, others murmured in agreement.

Then at the end of the hour, workers returned to their individual cubicles until next week.
